Foster Home Update

Fundraising is coming along slowly. We have roughly 1/2 the funds needed for his first surgery....

Here is an update from his foster mom:

"His personality is just wonderful! He’s such a happy, loving boy. He loves to get out in the snow to roll around, and then barks to get in and goes straight to the woodstove and curls up as close as he can get to it. He’s the best of friends with our little dog Lulu. She’s shown him the ropes, and he has no problem with her being the boss, he just follows right along. He just loves kids, and is so gentle with them when they give him a treat or pet him. He sneaks into their room and sleeps on the rug most nights. Before he came along we had a ‘no dog in the kids bedroom’ rule, but he’s so cute about it that we had to make an exception.

He's such a normal dog at home, in that he loves to be in the house or out in the barn when we're out there, and follows us everywhere we go, that I almost forget when we go somewhere he's afraid to go inside. Still no success getting him in anywhere yet. He shows such genuine fear, I don’t want to make him uncomfortable, so open the car and let him back in. He's fine if he's outside at a strange place, but as soon as I head for a doorway, he panics and heads for the car. He loves to ride in the car! He knows if we’re getting ready to go somewhere, he goes to the door to get outside, and then won’t come back in. He just barks at us and waits beside the vehicle. He loves to play, but has overdone it a couple of times and he can hardly walk the next day. His left leg really limits his mobility, and causes him pain. I just hope he can get surgery, even on just the one leg for now. If he could get it done and be healed by spring, I can’t imagine how great he would feel, and how excited he would be to get out and run, swim and play.

He has adjusted well, and you would never kno

w from the way he acts that he hasn’t lived here his whole life. I’ll admit we were hesitant to bring him into our home as we have two small children, having heard of the life he lived and not really knowing what to expect from him, but he’s better than we could have ever imagined. I hope he loves us, even half as much as we love him!"
